What is the Extended Essay in IB?
The Extended Essay, also known as "EE", is an integral part of the International Baccalaureate Diploma Program. It's an exciting opportunity for students to delve into a topic of their choosing, showcase their abilities beyond the standard curriculum, and acquire valuable research and writing skills that will benefit them in their future academic pursuits.
The EE journey usually begins in the second semester of the first year of the IB Diploma Program, around January. It's a challenging yet rewarding path that requires the support of a guardian, who could be one of the lecturers (or tutors). The guardian meets regularly with the student to help structure their research questions and guide them in crafting their thesis.
As the student pours their heart and soul into this essay, they will have to manage their time, prioritize tasks, and push through moments of self-doubt and frustration. But with persistence and dedication, the student will emerge victorious, having produced a masterpiece of no more than 4,000 words. And to top it all off, the student must present their findings in a short oral exam at the end.
It's a year-long journey full of highs and lows, but the satisfaction of completing the Extended Essay and knowing that it has prepared them for future academic pursuits is an indescribable feeling.

Who will my tutor be?

What happens in the first lesson?
The first lesson is about finding what is really holding you back. From that, your tutor plans how to close those gaps as quickly as possible, with a strong focus on past paper questions. We will not do your homework for you; we make sure you can do it yourself.
What is in my learning plan?
Your plan is built around your target grades and your deadlines: the topics to strengthen and in which order, the coursework (IA, EE and TOK) along the way, and exam practice on real past papers before the exams. Your tutor adjusts it as you progress.
What happens after I buy a package?
You get a confirmation and we start matching you with the tutor who best fits your needs. We get back to you within 24 hours, and your tutor then contacts you to schedule the first lesson.
How do I know how many lessons I have left?
Your tutor keeps track of your hours and lets you know how many remain. At the end of every month we also email you an overview of the lessons held.
